June 1st, Saturday. We woke up hoping for a different type of day, weather wise.  Our early warning system is the flagpole in front of the clubhouse. Raising the flags is the first thing the cart girls do in the AM, and it's a pretty good sign of what you are going to be in for up at the course.

I'd like to say that Saturday's weather was better.  It was...it was...different.  Winds were down to a manageable 30MPH but just for the fun it got cold and rainy.  Adam joined us late Friday night so we have two complete foursomes.  I played with Bill Marr, Freddie Carroll and Marshall Stallings in the AM.  Everyone woke up and donned their rain gear and senses of humor and headed up to the course.  We posed for a group picture.  You can see this was even a challenge.  The day required a bit of on course swing oil.

The golf was still a challenge but the added weather limited our groups play to 36 holes.  There were lots of great shots, and some not so great shots.  Freddie had to take the walk of shame after hitting his ball in the 30 foot deep bunker left on hole number 16.  Bill struck a beautiful pose on the same hole.

Adam, Mike Conley, Bob Call and John Call played. John is an excellent golfer, played at UCLA, he found out the wind can put his ball in some interesting places.

We naturally heard about it at dinner.  Lots of good shots, lots of bad shots, and lots of laughs, overall the group maintained it's positive attitude.

May 31st...Against the Wind

It's always windy at Sand Hills, Friday May 31st was the windiest day I have ever experienced.  We had 7 golfers brave the element.  Winds were consistently over 40MPH with gusts recorded as high as 57.  Standing up was a challenge, let alone hitting or putting a golf ball.  The golfers remained in good cheer, and some even played 45 holes.  At the end of the day we were rewarded for our bravery or stupidity when we were notified that greens fees were being waived for the day.  Weather was cool for most of the day but late in the afternoon bare legs were revealed.  Sand Hills gave us it's best shot and we survived with our spirits intact.
